Where to apply for social services
With regard to granting of social services, provision whereof is financed by the municipality from its own budget funds or from special target grants to municipal budgets from the state budget, a person (one of the adult members of the family) or his guardian/custodian applies by written request to the municipality of the place of residence of a person (family).
Social workers assigned according to the procedure established by a municipal institution determine the applicant’s need for social services. When determining the need, an integrated approach is taken to the evaluation of family members’ abilities, possibilities and motivation to solve the family’s social problems, maintain relations with society, as well as possibilities to develop or compensate them for the social services of general interest or social attendance that correspond to family’s interests and needs.
A decision regarding the granting of social services to a person (family) upon recommendation of a social worker who has determined a person’s (family’s) need for social services is adopted in accordance with the procedure established by a municipal institution.
A person who applies for social services has to provide all required information related to evaluation of a person’s need for social services to a social worker.
In exceptional cases, when a person (family) suffers physical or psychological abuse or a threat is posed to his physical or emotional security, the person (one of the adult members of the family) or his guardian/custodian may apply for the granting of social services of general interest and social attendance to a municipality other than that of his place of residence.
