Voluntary social insurance
Agreements on voluntary insurance for sickness and maternity benefits are concluded with the territorial unit of the State Social Insurance Fund Board.
Sickness and maternity benefits to the insured are granted and paid by territorial units of the State Social Insurance Fund Board when the temporary incapacity for work started at least 6 months after the agreement’s entry into force and insurance contributions for this period of 6 months have been paid.
The sickness benefit is paid to the insured when he falls ill or becomes injured.
The maternity benefit is paid when the insured woman is granted pregnancy and childbirth leave.
Sickness and maternity benefits are paid if the application is filed within 12 months after the end of sickness or pregnancy and childbirth leave.
Entering into the agreement on sickness and maternity benefits, the individual chooses the amount of contributions during the calendar month.
The duration of payment of benefits depends on the duration of payment of contributions. An individual who paid contributions for a longer period is entitled to receive benefits for a longer period. The amount of the benefit depends on the amount of contributions.
