Social insurance disability pension
The social insurance disability pension (’social insurance pension for work incapacity’ before 31 December 2023;‘invalidity pension’ before 1 July 2005) is the main type of social security in case of disability.
The social insurance disability pensions are granted to inidviduals who recognised as a person with a disability and who have the minimum state social pension insurance record for this type of pension. The requirements for both minimum and mandatory pension insurance record depend on the individual‘s age on the day of rating him as person with disability.
The general part of the disability pension is calculated according to the formula d x β x B, where:
B is the basic pension amount;
d is the multiplier of the level of participation specified in Annex 3 to the Law on Social Insurance Pensions;
β is the multiplier of the ratio between the person‘s record and the obligatory insurance record for an old-age pension at the time when the disability pension is granted. If the insurance record of the person is not longer than the obligatory insurance record for an old-age pension effective at that time, the multiplier β shall be equal to one.
The individual part of social security disability pension is calculated according to the formula N x p x d, where:
N is the number of a person’s points applicable to a disability pension calculated as the sum of the pension points acquired by the person, disability (work incapacity) pension points, and temporal pension points;
p is the pension points value;
d is the multiplier of work capacity level specified in Annex 3 to the Law on Social Insurance Pensions.
Upon indexation of the basic pension amount and the pension point value, disability pensions are calculated on the basis of the new values.
