Single-person benefit
The single-person benefit is granted and paid in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on the Single Person Benefit No. XIV-352 (hereinafter referred to as the Law).
From 2022 the single-person benefit is automatically granted for single elderly persons (who attained old-age pension age) and disabled persons. From 2022 in order to receive single-person benefit is not required for a single person to be entitled to social assistance or social insurance pension.
Additional requirements for receiving a single-person benefit:
- A person has declared a place of residence in Lithuania or is in the accounting list of persons who have not declared a place of residence in accordance with the procedure established by the law;
- the person is divorced or unmarried.
Widows whose widow's pension is less than the lump-sum of single-person benefit or widows who do not receive a widow's pension because they have chosen to receive an orphan's pension instead of a widow's pension are also entitled to a single-person benefit.
The amount of the single-person benefit in 2024 - EUR 38,23. From 2023 single-person benfit will be index with the same index as for social insurace widow's basic pension.
The single-person benefit is paid from the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.
Single-person benefits are granted and paid by the State Social Insurance Fund Administration Institutions authorized by the Director of the State Social Insurance Fund Board under the Ministry of Social Security and Labor (hereinafter referred to as territorial divisions of “Sodra”).
